PROYECTO JUVENTUDES
Con el apoyo de María Fund, lanzamos un proyecto nuevo de juventud en verano de 2025. El proyecto de arte y cultura como medio de formación, resistencia, organización y transformación social para nuestras juventudes, busca fomentar la participación activa de nuestres jóvenes en AgitArte y ofrecer capacitación artística, organizativa y experiencia laboral dentro de tres proyectos puntuales: La Víspera de la Abolición, La Quince: De Aquí Nadie Nos Saca y 1ero de Mayo: 20 años de Papel Machete.
Ya empezamos el tercer y último evento del proyecto, el aniversario 20º de Papel Machete que será una celebración de la historia del colectivo donde se presentarán piezas de repertorio, así como piezas nuevas, conversatorios sobre la trayectoria, el momento político actual y diversos talleres. En los próximos meses, vamos a ofrecer a les jóvenes talleres de formación política y sobre la historia del Papel Machete, en nuestro espacio de Casa Taller Cangrejera.

YOUTH PROJECT
With the support of María Fund, we launched a new youth project in the summer of 2025. The project, which uses art and culture as a means of education, resistance, organization, and social transformation for our youth, seeks to encourage the active participation of our young people in AgitArte and offer artistic and organizational training and work experience within three specific projects: On The Eve of Abolition, La Quince: “De Aquí Nadie Nos Saca”, and May 1st: 20 Years of Papel Machete.
We have already begun the third and final project, Papel Machete’s 20th anniversary, which will be a celebration of the collective’s history featuring repertoire pieces and new works, discussions about its trajectory and the current political moment, and various workshops. In the coming months, we will offer our youth cohort workshops in political education and the history of Papel Machete at our Casa Taller Cangrejera space.

Durante el mes de febrero, nuestro compañero Agustín regresa a Casa Taller Cangrejera en calidad de artista residente. Esta vez, lo hace para la creación de una pieza personal que, según nos cuenta en el vídeo a modo de provocación, está plagada de elementos fantásticos que se entrelazan con datos, historia de luchas obreras, experiencias familiares y curiosidades del mundo del cañaveral. Ambos abuelos trabajaron en la segunda central azucarera más grande del Caribe, la Central Guánica, en donde a su bisabuela, ¡se le apareció un ángel! Agustín es músico, compositor y artista, aunque se ha destacado principalmente en Papel Machete por sus valiosas contribuciones musicales, también ha trabajado en la creación de historias colectivas y construcción de títeres. ¡Qué lindo tenerte en casa, Tini!
During the month of February, our comrade Agustín returns to Casa Taller Cangrejera as a resident artist. This time, he is here to create a personal piece which, as he tells us in the video by way of provocation, is full of fantastic elements intertwined with facts, the history of workers’ struggles, family experiences, and curiosities from the world of sugar cane. Both of his grandfathers worked at the second largest sugar mill in the Caribbean, Central Guánica, where his great-grandmother had an angel appear to her! Agustín is a musician, composer, and artist. And although he has mainly stood out in Papel Machete for his valuable musical contributions, he has also worked on creating collective stories and building puppets. How nice to have you home, Tini!
